Indeed this certification is a guarantee of seriousness for foreign buyers.
The AOC lavender responds to botanical bonds from provenance, traceability, equilibrium in its components, and clearly defined olfactory qualities in the controlled designation of appellation.
This AOC protects the name "Lavender essential oil of Haute Provence" which is the only one existing in France for lavender.
Out of this AOC, no lavender can use a similar name or refer to its territory.
Bio lavender guarantees production methods:
No pesticide and other chemical should be used.
It is guaranteed by an AB logo and is not constrained to a defined geographical area.
There is a small tonnage of bio lavender in AOC.
In this case, the geographical and botanical origin as well as all the other guarantees of the AOC, in particular the olfactory qualities, constitute additional strengths.
But even in traditional culture, lavender does not receive or few pesticides.
